Aceh Pilkada Postponed Until 2022

The Independent Election Commission, or Aceh KIP, has finally postponed the holding of regional head elections or the Aceh Pilkada, in 2022.
The Pilkada includes the election for the Governor and the Deputy Governor, the Regent and the Deputy Regent, the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor.
This decision was conveyed by the chairman of the Aceh KIP, Syamsul Bahri, together with KIP members, after holding a plenary meeting at the local KIP office, on Friday 2 April 2021 evening.
The delay occurred after the signing of the Aceh Grant Agreement, or (NPHA), between the Aceh Government and KIP Aceh, on April 1, 2021, was not carried out.
The NPHA signing activity contains the amount of the budget that will be granted by the Aceh government, for the cost of implementing the elections in 2022.
Meanwhile, the Aceh government did not sign the grant manuscript, arguing that it was still waiting for confirmation from the central government regarding the schedule for the Aceh regional elections.
