Writing on DARKNESS

Wikipedia explains DARKNESS as the polar opposite to brightness, is understood as a lack of illumination or an absence of visible light.
Humans are unable to distinguish color in conditions of either high brightness or darkness. In conditions of insufficient light, perception is achromatic and ultimately, black.

to my understanding DARKNESS simply means absence of LIFE, life here which represent light also mean EMPTINESS

EMPTINESS
a place is said to be empty if there is absence of life or some materials that indicates that there is life

Emptiness is also a period where you tend to luck yourself out of the world. Though you might be in a room or place filled with life 'light' but within your soul there is these emptiness due to some life experiences and challenges you've encountered you decide to shut yourself out of the world and be alone without life 'light' .

Most times when am been faced with a very difficult situation caused by either problematic family backgrounds with abusive relationships and mistreatment, i go all in with drugs and alcohol just to ease the tension. but over the years i discovered that these has never helped in solving the problem of been Empty and vexed at life itself, instead it add to it cause at the end of the day the alcohol will give me a hangover with big headache and when its wears-off the problems are still waiting for me to be solved. so i just Man-up and face the challenge.

They say what doesn't kill a man will surely make him stronger. Life is a race not for the lazy and weak but for the swift, determined and strong ones that never gives up.
