Vlog #28: Crypto thoughts over a barrel aged beer. Bitcoin Fomo in Dutch newspaper.

in #life7 years ago

Today I learned there is a huge difference between having cryptocurrency money and seeing that same money converted to euros on your bank account.

It hit me like a freight train that the 30 ETH that I sold today is actually over 10 grand.

I can tell you straight up that having 10 grand in your bank account or in a digital wallet feels completely different.

This is money I have to work 3 months for slaving away, every day, to get. In crypto, before the superpump, I used to swap it around like candy.

It feels different now.

Everything you do in crypto is like a game. Like gathering more gold in an RPG.

Bitcoin goes up not because of the underworld but because of Bank, businesses, and governments. Mainstream Fomo again?

Hey brother!

You got rid of Ether, got a shitload of cash and are gonna save some of it and apportion the rest to purchase a "green egg". I love it!!! That's a decisive and smart move on your part. Nevermind what others say or what the opinions of the so-called experts are. You did fantastically from you're investment in crypto early on and are now reaping the rewards for it. Excellent!

Though I see way more drama to come in the crypto space. Tabloids are only now getting the media machine started, just wait till next year breaks loose! Better strap yourself in tight, buddy!

Great post as is standard with you, man! And remember, if you ever wanna talk crypto or anything else for that matter, I'm just a simple phone call away. :)

Steem on, my brother! :)

Thanks, man. It will be interesting to see the media circus unfold indeed. It will be a very interesting year. I hope you are having a blast in Greece and you can expect a call this week. Steem on man!

I would certainly be curious to see you interview @ezzy in one of your videos.

Right?

That might be coming sooner rather than later, sir! :)

great vlog, stratis is a waste of time

Thank you, and I won't bother with it. I made the mistake to go to their website. I got bored in 1 second.

You picked a great time to sell, your instincts were right. I imagine putting that money into your bank account was a surreal moment. That's when it became real. Congratulations! You've put in the work and deserve to take profit and reap some of the rewards. I know what you're talking about with talking with your family. It's tough some times because I feel they still see us as the the boy we were, not the men we have become. You want to be able to share your success and your interests, but sometimes there's simply no mutual understanding. No common ground can be found. We just have to love them and enjoy the time we have with them. That beer looks amazing. Drink one for me! Cheers! :)

Haha, I don't think they will see me differently whatever I do :). Glad you can relate. And I love them too of course :). The beer was great! Cheers, man.

Hey man, I am from The Netherlands aswell and I plan to live as poorly as possible when I finished my HBO-IT study to invest it all into Crypto. How long did it take you to get where you are today now and how much were you setting aside of your monthly income? Thanks man!

Inspiring AF :D

I bought my first BTC in 2013. I just bought in gradually. I never had a big pile of money to throw at it. After Steemfest 1, I took my biggest (calculated) risk with Steem. Also bought gradually. But could go a little bigger because of previous investments. Was very fortunate to catch a long downtrend.

What exchange did you use to convert back to Euros?

I'd be curious!

and cautious!

Exactly right!

Transacting between crypto and fiat is the most scary part for me.

That's why I'm curious to see what service @exyle used to convert back to Euros.

i like to spend my crypto's on goods and services before converting back to government issued fiat.

I guess, technically, this would mean the same. You are still "selling" your bitcoin, ether or steem, etc.

As not many vendors take cryptocurrencies directly and receive fiat money after the conversion is made.

true but you are not dealing directly with financial institutions, you're buying from merchants

I have used Kraken in the past. It works fine. But this time I used a dutch site called Bitonic.nl. I send my BTC and got my Euro's in an hour (for a small fee).

Well done!

I do understand your reasoning, making this move.

I am also curious for EOS. I think the tools are here where the Web 3.0 doesn't need to have transaction fees. Steemit is proving this can work. And that is just amazing!

I am curious to see how a smart contract platform could operate in a similar way. I guess this is what EOS is planning.

I am also curious to see what the next hardfork for Ethereum will bring, though. The Metropolis hardfork for Etheruem will have to show some advantages in the way they want to innovate smart contracts. A lot of potential competitors have come to the scene since the Homestead harfork.

Interesting times, good to be cautious!

Too many factors I can't oversee atm. ICO's, POF, Sharding, Lightning ect. ect. With Steem, for instance, it's different, I can see it's working and where it's going.

It's not that a sold everything (eth) but after 3000% it's not a bad time to say: Parking something on the sidelines.

Being able to cash in on all your hard work is awesome!! You're doing what we all aspire to do! Super happy for ya! Love the pics of the fam too!! Your little one is sooooo cute!!

Thank you! The little one is my sister's kid. His name is Sam.

true it probably feels great to see the dollars, but you can always spend the crypto-currencies on goods. Here You Can Buy Anything on AMAZON using Bitcoin! Save up to 15%

Crypto money and money on your bank account feels totally different :-) Crypto Money is like an illsuion if you see your coins on blockfolio that is totally crazy. I am really sure that we will get many millionairs espacially through steemit / steem :-) One of the most important things is that you do not have to sell any coins ;-) Just buy and hold good projects and even taxation does not bother.

Buying and holding is the best tactic. It works well for me so far. Taking some profit was more a gut feeling. 3000% you know...can't be unhappy really.

So true ;-) Gratefullness is important in that business.

It gives immense satisfaction, feels really great to convert crypto into cash and shop with crypto money. Enjoy the moment.

Thanks, man!
