Beers with friends at a bar in Rotterdam called Bokaal.
Bianca and I went out today to meet some friends for beer!
Always a noble endeavor to partake in from time to time.
We went to a place I never been to before called Bokaal.
It's a bar in the centrum of Rotterdam.
It's a fairly small place inside but it does have a big outside terrace.
The first thing I did was to check what they had on tap.
All the usual brands were there (including Heineken and Brand).
But they also had some special beers.
Affligem Blond is a nice beer if you ever get the chance to try it (the double is also nice).
Besides the beers on tap, they have a large selection of beer in bottles.
I decided to try a beer called Oesterstout (Oyster-Stout).
It's a 8,5% Belgium stout.
It's extra special because in the brewing process it's pumped over 'oyster-shells'.
Bianca and I were early so we decided to have the first beer outside.
The sun was out, it was a nice Fall day.
The beer looked decent enough, nice dark color and decent foam.
It was alright for the 6 euro's I paid for it but I know places in Rotterdam where you can find better stuff in this category.
(Kaapse Maria is a highly recommended beer cafe if you ever find yourself in Rotterdam)
Soon the friends arrived and we had a great time, just chatting and drinking beer!

I always like to try the special beers that places have on tap. For the most part you can always buy the bottles somewhere else. Craft brews are so popular over here now that you have to be pretty far back in the woods somewhere to find a bar that doesn't have at least one craft beer on tap.

Affligem is pretty good indeed, you actually don't see it too much in Belgium itself, but they do a lot of exports apparently.
When you go to the north of France, you'll see them just about everywhere.
Never heard about Oesterstout, I should definitely check that one out myself. If I can find it :)
