Something I own

Some plants are just made for photography and drawing. They shapes, colours and textures just ask for it. I have a few Echeverias on my balcony and I admit I grow them not only because they look nice But because I love to shoot them!

Today I thought I will try to draw one too. First I thought of making it black and white only. But then again, why skipping the pretty pastel colours?

Of course I started with very simple outline and started to slowly fill with smaller lines. I was adding them as I was finishing the whole drawing too. Nothing better than working with layers and being able to switch between all the time :)
This is the final outline.

The colouring is always the coolest part for me. I picked mint colour and filled up the leaves leaving some gaps near the edges. Then took another type of blush (also to get used to different tools and see how they work) and added light grey colour. A scruffy way of colouring maybe, but I like it that way.

And this was supposed to be the end of the drawing. I wanted to add some frame, maybe background colour.
And then I remembered that when I shoot the plants, my cat always assists me. That space on right was perfect to add a part of Suzi. Again - starting with simple pencil and ink pen outline.

Adding the same shade of grey to part of the furry face and we are done :)
Of course frame and signature comes last.
