Scarce Swallowtail on Echium plantagineum.
That is a lot of strange words, right?

I spotted Scarce Swallowtail butterfly at the bay one sunny spring day. I don't see them often here. Luckily I had my camera with me and he gave me a few minutes to take some shots.

Purple bell like flowers Echium plantagineum bloom everywhere in spring. The fields (as long as they don't cut grass there) are all purple! All kinds of bees and butterflies feed on them.
I don't have a photo proof so you have to trust me on that one ;)

Beautiful! I don't think I've ever seen one flying around here...
I am not a butterfly expert. I dunno what butterflies are rare or not. This was the first time I saw here. Normally its those yellow/white ones that eat the cabbage :p
I've been seeing plenty of those as well flying over our gardens...
