BeachWednesday - The Dry Stuff

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

Last week #BeachWednesday was full of pretty blooming flowers. This week it's the opposit. The dry and the dead. It is not always easy and pretty out there. The reconditions are harsh. Strong cold winds in winter, salty breeze from the ocean and hot sun in the summer.

  • The coolest driftwood I have seen in a while. All twisted, beaten up, and cracked with tiny starting to grow on it.

  • Some last season blooms managed to survive. Crispy dry, but still standing strong. They remind me those iron ornaments that are attached to fences. No clue what plant it is. Will have to go check if it blooms around summer/fall I guess.

  • Carpobrotus Edulis or Ice Plant in other words. Those are so so hard! I see them a lot further inland too, not just on the dunes. And when they bloom... my oh my. They have such amazing, huge flowers! Mostly yellow, but they appear in pink here too.
    This wasn't wasn't lucky.
