Willows over Shogrash

in TravelFeed4 years ago

Willows always grow along small, and even larger rivers. This is a tree that destroys all the beautiful views, but in itself can be quite attractive. Over the years of filming, I realized how to properly shoot this tree - at night and without foliage.

Night fell and I went to the bank of the Shogrash River in Vologda in order to capture the gloomy views with willows. But by then May had already arrived and the sky did not want to become completely black. White nights crept unnoticed and, it seems, have to forget about night shooting until mid-August.

Perhaps the photos turned out to be less interesting, because the gloom in them is zero. It's just beautiful evening twilight cityscapes.

Well, summer is a time of sunsets, sunrises and travels, but not photos of night yards or dilapidated housing in the dark.

Northern nature lives by its own rules, and for our latitude it’s nothing: just from May to August you can tolerate and you can again observe a scattering of stars in the sky.

It turns out that with photographing gloomy willows I did not have time a bit. Later leaves will appear and then no meandering branches will be visible at all.

You can only capture a beautiful landscape at sunset, which will not be any different from a million similar others.

And everything will overgrow with grass, and in some places there will be impenetrable thickets. And then, due to the falling water level in the middle of summer, the Shogrash river will be completely lost.

Only late autumn or even the beginning of winter will save the situation, and ideally it would be necessary to come here in the spring.

It turned out a kind of reverse contrast. I wanted the willow trunks to stand out against the dark sky, but on the contrary, they would be lost due to insufficient darkness.

Bad experience is also experience.
