Ustyuzhna. The Final Walk

Ustyuzhna is not one of the most remote areas of the Vologda region, there are more. But this is the most rarely visited district center, since there are no large enterprises here.

The second time I was here because of the threat of flooding of the city by the Mologa River.

Flooding is a slightly more frequent reason to visit this place.

I would still like to visit here again at any snowless time of the year.

And also take pictures at night, as I once did in other regional centers (Chagoda, Nikolsk).

Of course, I imagined this city a little more.

If we talk about the district, it is average in size and does not differ from many others in the Vologda region.

What is good about cities where there are rivers in the center – the river by its nature flows chaotically with turns, and streets that also run non-linearly adjust to the floodplain of the river.

It's boring to walk through the streets, where everything is visible for many hundreds of meters ahead, and also to realize that such streets are all.

It is more interesting to walk along a street that has turns, where it is unknown what will happen next and where it will lead.

And height differences, even small ones, for example, due to the banks of the river, create attractiveness in terms of viewing the panorama of the area from a small height.

Linearity is interesting in the architectural rhythm, but it is rare when houses stand on the same line on a straight street. And rhythm implies monotony of objects.

It's also good that the main temple of the city is visible from so many places.

There are only two places in Ustyuzhna with brick high-rise buildings and also few with wooden barracks.

The rest of the area is occupied by the private sector, where there are ordinary one-story wooden huts.

There are still a couple of ruined churches on the other side of the river, but it's a long way to go to them.

Let it be the goal to visit there next time.

I want to know all the places and expand the map of spaces.

But sometimes it's enough to run around and soak up the atmosphere.

Time is fleeting and other interesting places are waiting ahead. This means that if I don't visit here again, I won't be upset.
