Square orientation of the frame
The square orientation of the frame with an aspect ratio of 1:1 was common in the film era. At that time, such photos were taken on medium-format cameras, the frame size was 6x6 cm. I wonder why Instagram emphasized the square shape of the image? Is there any reference to the medium format, because when this social network appeared, there was just a time for popularizing film photography.
