Ice congestion graphics
Photographic experiments on graphics in nature each time lead me to completely different areas. This time I was interested in the ice blockage on the Sukhona River. In general, ice congestion is a disorderly, sometimes mushy conglomeration of ice. I got hooked on everything: the geometry of large ice floes, the texture and uniformity of a mushy mass, the glow of ice floes in backlight.
The ice blockage on Sukhona stood for three days and, with the help of blasting, the EMERCOM forces managed to avoid flooding of residential areas.
Returning to the textures, patterns and geometry of ice. During processing, I could not achieve a result that was consistent with my mind. With a strong contrast lost recognition of ice. I wanted to find a balance between abstract and commonplace.
If you go from the backlight to the side, the picture changes significantly. Forms become softer.
And here is the case when the accumulation of ice is mushy.
It is not like anything else, this has no analogues. Is that very close to the wreckage of glass.
It is ideally suited for this project, which is designed to show the large-scale texture and graphics of nature, as well as our daily life.
It seems that such pictures can be shot endlessly, but not everything is so simple! I had to compose a frame for a very long time and select interesting elements. Yes, and for a homogeneous texture is not so easy to choose the desired area with ice on the river.
Triangular shapes always look good on a photo.
It turned out that the composition of all the images are different. Somewhere even geometric shapes, somewhere small textures, and somewhere torn shapes.
This year's ice is very thin.
These images are perceived alien.
A lot of graphic material has already accumulated, that I can do an exhibition or publish a project, collecting the best works.
But the further, the more interesting it becomes. This is because such series arise spontaneously, as if someone were pushing me to it.
And finally - a reference frame with ice slushy texture.
