Golden banks on Sukhona

in #travel6 years ago

The Sukhona River, which flows through the entire Vologda region, is beautiful everywhere in its own way. But still the most unique places are located in the village of Poldarsa and near the village of Porog. There the river makes sharp turns among the steep banks.

Poldarsa has almost no steep banks, but this is compensated for by deciduous trees that adorn the more gentle banks with its yellowness.

On the other side of the Sukhona is the village of Belaya and the Sukhonsky logging village.

The fact that there is also life is very well heard from afar: motorcycles ride, people talk, dogs bark.

And boats generally go from shore to shore every half hour.

But in general it is very quiet here, only the rustling of the grass is heard.

In autumn, any landscape is transformed, and in such places even more so!

Even in spite of the general decline of the timber enterprise in Poldarsa, there is no less beauty here.

In Opoki, where is the village of Porog, the river Sukhona also makes a sharp loop, but already among the steep walls-banks.

This area is famous for its past, good and not so.

Good we got from the last geological period of the Paleozoic era - the Permian period. These are the outcrops of various rocks from limestone to the fossils of various animals. Well, themselves layered coasts are interesting.

Bad legacy is inherited from the war years. Here was the GULAG zone - Opokstroy, where more than a thousand prisoners built a dam during the Great Patriotic War.

In the village, the Threshold is even quieter than in Poldarsa, despite the great tourist attraction. Just not the season.
