So Ugly It Is Pretty
A day in Hellsinki in pictures. Dreadful, grey, wet, cold, miserable, pictures. Sceneries that inspires majority of the movies they make in Finland, most of which I despise for their exaggerated grittiness. They are often beautiful movies but make me want to slit my wrists, so not my choice of entertainment.
So you know, I hope you enjoy these and can find the beauty in them, and don't feel like gauging your eyes out.
Shot with the Fujifilm X100F.
Hey! Any good places to visit in Hellsinki? I will soon be going on a vacation to Hellsinki :D

I have a few favourites, here goes:
Go to the botanical garden called Talvipuutarha (winter garden) and have a picnic there.
Eat traditional creamy salmon soup in Uunisaari (saari=island).
Walk around in Eira and Ullanlinna, the most beautiful areas in Helsinki, with Jugend architecture. Go see the prettiest street Huvilakatu.
Go for a swim in Allas Sea Pool, it’s quite magical espesially in the winter time. It’s at the foot of the ferris wheel you see in the first picture.
At sunset, go have a drink in Hotel Torni’s rooftop terrace, it has amazing views over the city.
Wear lots and lots of layers and be prepared for howling wind, rain and snow!
Thank you so much for those recommendations :D
Its gonna be awesome and cold! Is it also cold in May? :P

No problem, if you have any questions further down the line, I’m happy to help if I can.
In May it can actually be quite summery if you get lucky, but with Finland, you’ll never know.
Thank you so much!
Lets hope its not insanely cold in may. This guy is a bad viking :D

Hey, that's what I usually call myself!
My favorite type of setting to shot!!!
Oh I know and you always produce amazing results!
I like these. Grey and gritty looks good. Not so fun to be in it :)
I get tired of "popular" photography of brilliant sun and postcard perfect travel destination shots
It ain’t all sunshine and rainbows for sure!
Some of the photos are really interesting. And have that special kind of big city mood.

Thank you. Helsinki is actually a small city if you compare it to most other capital cities in the world :)
Scandinavia can be pretty damn depressing in winter time, but always keep in mind that summer is coming back!

In the southern parts especially. I’m heading back up north where there is actual pure white snow, it’s a lot nicer there.
I get you, even Belgium can be pretty damn depressing in fall and winter. Luckily out here the season is a lot shorter than in Scandinavia.
Have a nice trip to the snow!
