They elected a dead man.
He'd been dead for some time.

Informed voters would have known that.

For sure... Seems people care less about who controls them for roughly 4 years than for which pair of shoes to buy! What is the matter with those people? Are they zombies?
Locally, we just elected THE most corrupt contender for mayor while the person who would have made the best mayor got the least number of votes!
The scandals were all exposed in the local paper, so no excuse for not knowing about them.

Technically they are not stupid, but ignorant. We are all ignorant and we are all knowledgeable. It just depends on the subject. In the same way we are all conservatives, liberals, and radicals it just depends on the issue. As an example I'm radical on guns. Every man and as many women as possible should be packing heat. Crime would plummet to the lowest levels in the history of such records. Criminals come in all shapes and sizes, but the one thing they all have in common is that they are selfish and will not risk injury. That is why they pick on the helpless. The fear of a bullet out of nowhere hurting or killing them is a huge deterrent. The fear by some for a return to the "wild west" is due to the movie industry glamorizing the drama of duels which have been illegal since the Civil War. You can win a duel and then spend the rest of your life in prison is a powerful deterrent to the "gentleman's solution".
