til : There Is Only One Of Me.

HowManyOfMe.Com says...
There are 323,906,572 people in the United States of America. If everyone in the U.S. lined up single file, the line would stretch around the Earth almost 7 times. That's a lot of people.
The U.S. Census Bureau statistics tell us that there are at least 151,671 different last names and 5,163 different first names in common use in the United States. Some names are more common than others.
There are 46,834 people named John Smith in the United States. There are 1,019 people named James Bond, 107 people named Harry Potter , 456people named George Bush, and 33 people named Emily Dickinson. However, Johnny Cash (34 people) songs aside there are, statistically speaking, very few boys named Sue.
You ever think about that?
Well I did.
When I was growing up I thought my name was
“HUH?”.
I mean really...
is that any thing to call a kid?
.
It seemed like every time someone asked me my name,
and I said
“Everitt Mickey”
.
Then they’d say
“HUH?”
.
Every.
Time.
.
It's not a common name.
It’s bass-ackwards for one thing.
If’n I’da said
“My name is Mickey Everitt”
There would have been NO Problem.

.
and I’m probably related to every one of them.
Cousins I bet.
Most of use descended from old man

Samuel Everitt Mickey
he was my g'g'g'(something )granpa.
His Dad, Thomas Mickey, an Irishman I think, or maybe Scot,
married a nice German Gal name of Jane Everitt.
They had thirteen kids too.
That's why I have so many cousins.
So the name Everitt has been passed down for the last two hundred years
in the Mickey Family
Don't get me started on the Smiths.
(but that's another story)
.
Then there is
.

.
As you can see there aren’t near as many Everitts..
AND...it’s a last name.
Spelling is important.
It's NOT Everett.
It's Ever i tt.
It's with an eye...not an eeee.
I've gotten no end of grief over THAT too.
I know how to spell my own name.
Trust me on this.
I do.
.
Heh...reminds me of one time in 7th grade.
Back home in the early sixties in small town
‘just got over the DustBowl
and ain’t done with the depression quite yet”
Texas we did things different then ..
.
We had grade schools...
with each class of us Boomers in one room of thirty some kids.
one class...some times more....per grade.
In other words we had a class of...say...third graders
We’d all stay in that class all day long except for recess and lunch.
.
Well Jr. High was different.
(7th and 8th Grades)
we had a separate class room for each SUBJECT.
We went to, say, Math...
then when we was finished with Math we went to English...etc.
.
Lots of student shuffling.
.
Well we had a thing called
“Home Room”.
We were assigned to it.
I never saw much good in it.
At any rate...I was a 7th grader and new to all this crowding
and shoving and I didn’t like it much.
I tried to stay away from the madding crowd as much as I could..
In other words I sit in the rear of the room.
.
Well...the teacher had roll call.
She’d go down the list..
.
Steve Garmes........here.
Jack Smith........Here.
Everitt Mickey.......Here.
Albert Kirchoff.......Here.
Sally Andrews......Here.
Mickey Everitt....
.
...wait a minute
...I thought she already called my name?
I KNEW,
from past experience,
that if I
‘argued with the teacher’
that things would go bad for me.
Best to just shut up and go along to get along..
.
Mickey Everitt?”
She said...louder. “are you here?
"HERE Ma’am." I said. "I'm here."
.
Stayed out of trouble
...dodged THAT bullet...
(whew)
.
For a while.
.
When she found out that there was only ONE of me
...I was in Truuuuuuble...!
.
Can’t win.
.
So guess what...?
.

.
Pretty cool huh?
Of course I knew that.
All my life people have been rolling their eyes
...looking at the ceiling and saying.
.
“Only YOU !
...Everitt
Only you.”.
.
So I guess they were right.
Only me.
Only one.
Nice to meet you. My name is Deva Winblood. I can relate. ;) Though I am recently only 46.
EDIT: And yes, I am one of the there are 1 or less people with my name members as well.
welcome to the club...if we had a club.
I bet people could at least pronounce your name right. :)
My name Deva is not pronounced DEEVA... it is pronounced DAYVA.
My last name Winblood is not a gambling match where you get to Win some Blood it is actually pronounced Wine Blood.
Though... my first name blame goes to my Hippie parents. :) My last name lack of an E in the name goes to Ellis island deciding that Winblad which was essentially Wineblood should be spelled Winblood. People with the name Wineblood are actually my relatives as some of the descendants got tired of the mispronunciation and added an E. :)
Names and Genealogy can be fun stuff. Like our personal little mysteries.
If the way folks (mis) pronounce your name bothers you, change the spelling...OR, change the pronunciation. It's up to you.
Rumor has it that a guy named Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz had the same problem you did...he decided that it should be pronounced George Brown. No one could say any different.
Heh. I'm used to it now. Mainly was just sharing. I only correct people I deal with on a regular basis.
I'm huked on Fonicks myself.
I pronounce stuff the way it's spelled.
Copyright, right quick.
I'm 66 years old...
it can wait.
U-2?
maybe we should start a steemit group..
call ourselves the fewer
