A bot cannot replace a real user. Mass adaptation of bots will render any platform mechanical and useless. People will start seeing no value and therefore abandon such an economic model. A free-market dynamic will ensure a balance between bot vs user generated activity.
Thanks for raising awareness of this issue. I personally think bots are both almost indispensable, and utterly destructive, depending on how they are used. Bots that are intended to help people find content, or information, etc., are of practically unlimited potential in improving our quality of life.
Bots that curate, however, degrade human agency to mere algorithms. It is this kind of bot that will destroy our quality of life if not reigned in.
There is a difference between using a power tool, and being replaced by automation. When we're talking about replacing the very content of our characters, as in curation, then we are actually talking about automating humanity itself, which I am sure no sane person desires.
I personally think some bots are fine, but sometimes you see bots responding to other bots. It's like the beginning of Skynet!
Agreed.
You can tell by my words alone that
I'm a Bot for sure... People can't do
what I do... Or can they...??? I probably
deserve to upvote myself for this one...
