The Audacity of Faith!
Hello fellow steemians, a warm welcome to my blog today. I’m excited to have you around. Today, I’m going to be writing about the faith and its prevailing power, and I’m using the story of the three Hebrew boys in the Bible-Shedrack, Meshack and Abednego to pass this message across. Be inspired.
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
Daniel 3:15-18 KJV)
At one point or the other, you will come to a crossroad in your life. These crossroads might be in your finances, health, relationship, marriage, and at such times you might think that there’s nothing more you can do to salvage the situation. You might need to take one decision which might the thin line between life and loss.
In the Bible passage above we see three young Hebrew boys in a situation of life or death outcome. They believe in the one and only true God, and are bent on obeying His commandments to the latter.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God…
Exodus 20:4-5 KJV)
These guys are ardent lovers of Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews. They had pledged their allegiance to the service of Jehovah only. But here see them being demanded to join all the other worshippers of the god of Nebuchadnezzar, a false God.
Will they bow to worship this image of Nebuchadnezzar who had exalted himself to demand worship. Now they have two choices before them: bow down to worship the image and live or stand for their God and be killed. This was no small decision before these young men. There was no middle ground for them.
But the response given by these young men reveals a set of people whose faith is unwavering and rock-solid. They know whom they had believed and they were persuaded that He was their salvation.
Their response revealed a kind of faith that is audacious in the face of any negative circumstance.
O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
Daniel 3:16-18 KJV
Anyway, the King’s furry was kindled as a result of the stance of these young men. Their punishment was death by fire, and not just ordinary fire. He ordered the furnace to be rekindled 7x hotter. But one thing he didn’t know was the power of the God these Hebrew boys were serving. He is God in the mountain and still God in the valley. When things goes wrong, He makes it right.
At once the king ordered them to be thrown into the fire. But before they could land in the fire, the God if the Hebrews was already there waiting for them. He paralyzed the ability of the fire to consume them. He Himself is a consuming fire, and He consumed the fire of king Nebuchadnezzar.
The men who threw them into the fire got burnt but not these Hebrew boys. They were a people of covenant and as such couldn’t die anyhow. Jehovah was with them.
Our God is a sun and a shield.
Psalm 84:11 KJV
So my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, let us be strengthened and hold unto our faith. Trust God to come through for you. No matter the waves and tempest that you might be faced with, keep your solid front. Victory is ours in Christ Jesus. Amen!
