What is plant pathology

Plant pathology is the study of plant and diseases that affect plant. And what infects plants and how to stop the disease from spreading

What affects plants are fungi viruses bacteria and worms known as nematodes why sometimes weather conditions and changes poor soil texture or lack of water or even more water

So basically plant pathology is the basic knowledge of discovery what is wrong with plants and ways of solving it

Importance of plant pathology

Plant pathology is important to farmers in the sense that it avoids loosing plants to diseases it increases crop yield and food availability

Also pathology helps in food security because when crops are closely watched and taken care of there is availability of food also it serves farmers from heavy loss because it takes a lot of effort time and resources to set up a farm so proper understanding of plant pathology saves farmers from losses and debt
Plant pathology alro encourages farming it's educates farmers in how to deal with crops educate them on seasonal crops and proper knowledge of their tools it also promotes research and innovation among farmers as farmers will dig more on new seedlings and improved species of crop widening their knowledge about agriculture

Some examples of common plant diseases include:

Rice blast affecting rice causing them with strange colour spots sometimes brown gray it reduces crop yield and increase poor harvest

Another is the maize streak virus commonly found in the African countries which affects the maize plant and as usual reduces crop yield

Final words

Agriculture is not just about the planting of crops or rearing of animals it's more about protecting crops research and improved farming skills plant pathology may not have a crowd knowledge but it is essential for farmers in the digital age as food scarcity is a major problem we face as such farmers should do better

As a lover of food agriculture and knowledge understanding plant diseases and finding possible ways to fix plant problems is one of the important skill a farmer should possess whether it's for commercial use or domestic use it is important to take care of the crops manage sickness and better still prevent

So yes plants fall sick just like animals but the right knowledge can help them get better and in return help us survive as good food is essential for we humans
