Cheap, Clean, Abundant, Electricity Generation; Is It Possible?steemCreated with Sketch.

A company called Brilliant Light Power is ready to field test their electric generation units that provide clean, abundant, and very cheap electricity.

Fuel Source

The fuel source is water. Yes, I said water or more specifically H2O. Okay, haven't we heard this before? Wasn't cold fusion suppose to be the answer to the world's energy needs. It's at least ten years since I heard about cold fusion. And I am still not aware of any cold fusion power plants.

Yes, I am skeptical. So why am I writing this post? There is always a chance that this may work.

So the fuel source of the Brilliant Light Power device is abundant.

What's the Secret

The company claims that their technology is based on a new classical physics approach, The Grand Unified Theory of Classical Physics.

Wait, my skeptical nerve is twitching again. The Grand Unified Theory has been the holy grail of physicists since I went to school.

The company's device is producing energy from a new state of hydrogen called hydrino. A hydrino is a low-energy state hydrogen atom. The company states that the hydrino is the dark matter of the universe.

I'm getting that skeptical twitch again. Can this company possibly throw out any more buzz words that have been focuses of scientific inquiries?

The company's device also uses molten silver in the energy production.

SunCellⓇ

The reaction inside the SunCellⓇ is 10k times brighter than sunlight. A photovoltaic converter converts the light into electricity. The SunCellⓇ generates DC electricity that can be converted to AC electricity using a conventional inverter, such as those used in solar farms.

The company states that the capital cost is cheaper than any conventional green energy solutions. The unit is estimated to last 20 years.

And the electicity is produced at a cost of $0.001/kWh which is currently cheaper than any other form of electric generation.

Commercialization

The company has invested millions of dollars to get to its current state. The company plans to do field tests of the units in the first half of 2017, February or March. The first commercial units are planned to be rolled out in the first half of 2018. The installation of the SunCellⓇ is estimated to cost $2,000 USD per unit. The company will continue to own the units in its business model which is presented in its roadshow video (see Sources).

Once the commercial generators are rolled out, the company is planning to release units for use in transportation to power trains, plans, ships, trucks, and even cars.

I plan to keep an eye on this company and monitor its progress

New Electrics

The webbot report has predicted new electrics coming soon whose technology relies on silver. Could this be the technological breakthrough predicted by the webbot report? This is what peaked my interest in this company's technology. Time will tell if the technology proves out.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I am ever hopeful that someone will produce a very low cost and clean energy generator. But I must say that I am highly skeptical because over the years I have seen so many promising technologies that were to be made available "next year" that just never come to fruition. I hope someone makes a low cost home electricity generator soon.

I downloaded the book from their website and am finding it an interesting approach to the Grand Unified Theory, but it is 1817 pages and will take quite some time to go through. It appears that Dr. Mills has done a thorough job at mathematically comparing his theory with standard quantum theories. His approach to bring back rational classical cause and effect to the subatomic world is gutsy in that it seems most theoretical physicists will scoff at such ideas. However nature is not ruled by majority opinions.

You are very welcome.

Like you, I will continue to search out new innovations and hope that they come to fruition in the years ahead.

I would very much like to see this SunCell technology be all that it is claimed to be. Time will tell as they do field tests this year.

it will be excellent if this works as advertised. every method used to look for dark matter has come up empty. it is possible that this could be an antenna to receive energy from some other source, broadcast or ambient. the non-ownership business model probably precludes taking it apart to see what makes it tick. it reminds me, a little, of the original ma bell telephones, that you could only lease, and not buy outright. zero cost energy is not much of a profit model if it is drawn from an ambient source.

"zero cost" is not to say "free energy", as in, greater than 100% efficiency, which, according to current model, is impossible, but to say, "zero cost" is, in this case, to say greater than 1 coefficient of performance, which is the same principle used in a waterwheel, which will continue to produce energy, as long as the mechanism is maintained, and the source (water, in the case of a waterwheel) continues to flow.

In the 2 hour video they do talk about maintenance will be required. And they also mention charging 5 cents per kWh for the electricity produced.

If it works, it would decentralize power generation that much more.

Thanks for your comment!

I am as skeptical as you are.... for varied reasons:

  • I am wondering what is this grand unified theory of physics... This is still something we are after today.
  • Concerning the hydrino, I google the word and found this. It is oldish but it seems this hydrino stuff si there for 25 years and is nothing but a buzz.
  • Moreover, the hydrino cannot be dark matter at all. Dark matter has not been found yet and is different from any known form of matter.

I agree with your reasons for being skeptical.

There is more on the Grand Unified Theory of Classical Physics at the company's website: http://brilliantlightpower.com/book/
The webpage has links to the 2016 edition.

This book is actually written by Randell Mills, who is also the owner of the company. He is known to be a crackpot, according to this webpage. Since I have not read the book, I cannot judge myself, but claiming unification and putting together quantum and classical are not a good sign to start with.

In the meantime, I have also found this (here):

'In a paper published in Physics Letters A, Norman Dombey concluded that Mills' theoretical hydrino states are unphysical. For the hydrino states, the binding strength increases as the strength of the electric potential decreases, with maximum binding strength when the potential has disappeared completely, where Dombey remarked "We could call these anomalous states "homeopathic" states because the smaller the coupling, the larger the effect'.

So in short, we should better stop spending time on that ^^

This and technologies like this will be something to keep a quiet eye on this year I think.

And if you have loose change, pick up some silver.
If / once this actually goes into production everyone is going to want silver.

I agree, silver is a precious metal and an industrial metal. A device like this will only increase demand for silver.

Mike

I'd love to own one if it's legit.

According to the company's current business model, you will not be able to own one. But, you can have one for an installation price of $2,000.

I don't know how that business model will work for planes, trains, ships, and automobiles. They do have a model of one about the size of a large coffee maker, that I assume would replace the engine in a car.

And once the generation goes into the self-sustaining mode, what will a car do with all that energy when it is not being used. Possibly, you plug it into the local power grid? There are still challenges the company faces in achieving its goals.

While I am skeptical, it will be interesting to see how this develops.

One thing that stands out even without knowing the science behind it is the tremendous amount of heat this thing must put out and the little radiator with a couple dozen feet of copper tubing looks sketchy.

I do hope this gets inventors around the world thinking about how make cheap clean energy.

Sounds like a great power generator and heater for use in Antarctica.

The reason you do not want to shut it down, is because it needs energy to start the reaction and another boost of energy to kick it into self-sustaining mode.

In there business model, they did mention that one of the byproducts is heat. There are definitely some more challenges for them ahead, but that is what the field tests are for.
