Once upon a time two friends decided to take a trip in a small plane and travel the ocean from the air and although I know you may be wondering why they didn't do it by boat, the answer is very simple, one of them was afraid of the waves and the depth of the sea. He used to say with a face of circumstance, "I have a lot of respect for the sea".

Well, back to the subject, the friends loved to go on ecological trips from which they always came back with great discoveries and wonderful stories and this one would be no different. As they flew, the pilot decided to lower the altitude and fly closer to the sea, encountering something that looked like a shiny carpet and that, as they flew over it, became thicker and denser until it compacted and took on a grayish green color in the shape of mountains. Yes, just like an immense island, but it was not a normal one, this one looked different from the islands they knew and a question quickly arose in their heads; Why couldn't we pick it up on the radar? Would the radar be damaged?

After circling it, one of them noticed that one of its sides was glowing from the sun's rays and it caught their attention even more. They talked and came to the conclusion that they should land to explore the mysterious place. Still wondering why this island did not appear on their radar or on any of the maps available to them, they landed, but not before having literally skidded on that smooth and shiny surface, which increased their astonishment and curiosity.

When they got off the plane, the two instinctively touched the ground and with their eyes almost wide open and their mouths agape, they looked at each other and as if in chorus they said "IT'S PLASTIC! It turned out that the plastic debris that had been accumulating was not biodegradable but had disintegrated and formed, somehow a large island that, although it could be seen, when passing over it, could not be tracked or seen through radar.

Moses, who had dedicated himself to the study of the sea and marine species, remembered that he had once read something about this type of phenomenon, harmful to the health of all living beings in the ocean because not knowing how to differentiate them, these objects already worn out by the sun take a size that could easily be swallowed by the fish and species of the sea and cause their death.

The two friends, full of pain and amazement at what humans were causing to nature, promised that upon their return they would start a media campaign to call the world's attention to the fact that humans are leading to the extinction of the marine ecosystem.
