Hi Friends! I'm back today with another installment of "Various Animals and How to Illustrate Them". Today's animal is the seal.
The seal is a marine mammal that belongs to the pinniped family, adapted to live most of the time in the water. Up to now, 33 species are known, they do not have an auditory pavilion, their lower extremities are oriented backwards and they are not very functional on land, contrary to the great maneuverability they have in the water.
They live in coastal regions of most of the globe except for the tropics. The social structure varies from one species to another, they are composed of not so large groups, and some species form monogamous pairs. They usually feed on fish, crustaceans and cephalopods although some specimens also hunt penguins . They are able to swim great distances and dive to high depths to catch their prey.
