Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced that they will offer an option to turn off the slowing feature on older iPhones to prevent sudden shutdowns.

Commenting on ABC News, Cook will be able to disable the "Do not bother" feature. But Apple does not recommend it. " In addition to the ability to disable the slowdown feature, Apple introduces a new feature that allows users to track battery life in more detail. iOS now sends a warning when the user's battery has significantly weakened, but no warning is given in the case of 'partial disruption'. "With this update, we will be able to provide a transparent experience that has never been seen before, enabling users to closely monitor the battery status," Cook said.

Before Apple released the iOS 10.2.1 update in 2016, the issue of sudden shutdown of the device on older iPhones after the battery has decreased to a certain level has begun. This was much more frequent on batteries with reduced charge, old or cold. With the 10.2.1 update, the company is starting to slow down iPhone 6, 6S and SE models, which are running out of charge. So it was tried to prevent the phone from suddenly closing. The same process with the iOS 11.2 update coming in 2017 was applied to iPhone 7 models.

But the company did not inform its users of this change. I have discovered users who have performed performance tests on their phone. Naturally, the company was accused of deliberately slowing down devices to encourage people to take new phones. Apple then released an open letter about the matter in December:
''Our goal is to provide our customers with the best experience. This includes extending overall performance and device life. Lithium-ion batteries do not reach the highest performance level in cold weather, and as time passes, some of the battery capacity is lost. This can cause the device to unexpectedly shut down to protect the other electronics. For the past year, the iPhone 6, 6S and SE provided a feature that would protect the device from being shut down suddenly. This feature protects the device by slowing down sudden performance increases. Now we bring this feature to iPhone 7 with iOS 11.2. In the future, other devices are also planned to use this feature.''

Tim Cook's latest updates are expected to be available in March as part of the next iOS 11 update.
