Just when spring is starting to show, mature is waking up, when after a long and crappy winter, finally there's something to photograph, half of the world is in lockdown, including me. Photography is in my blood and I have learned a valuable lesson, which says, there's always something to photograph, no matter the weather or the conditions.

During this crazy lockdown things are a bit complicated but not impossible. Lucky me, I live in an area with plenty of green, we even have a very small forest in the neighborhood, away from the police eyes. It's on my way to the farmers market, so it's just perfect.

Equipped with gloves, mask and my affidavit, off I went on Saturday. Being inside most of the time kind of makes one long fro fresh air and green, so I was walking very slowly, enjoying every second and every scene in my way.

The Little Things

Knowing that I only have this place to photograph at, having no other choice made me look for everything around me and find the most beautiful and interesting things one can find this time of the year.

Buds are starting to open, these little green leaves are coming out slowly. The weather is so so. During the day it's quite pleasant, you can even have a nice sunbath but nights and especially mornings are still cold.

-4°C is not exactly ideal for these fragile newborns. Some can resist just fine, while others are not prepared for this low temperature.

These blossoms for example are not fond of low temperature. When they start to bloom, usually it's the end of April and temperatures are higher.

Is this cold going to affect the crop? Maybe but these are growing wild and no one is collecting the fruits.

Last week these violets were covered by snow but they don't seem to care, or they are used to it.

The golden shower is just gorgeous. It's one of my favorites this time of the year and there's plenty around here.

For me this wonderful flower means spring but also Easter.

The Old Willow

Willows always remind me of my childhood, bringing back nice memories. We used to play with these trees, although I know what we did wasn't exactly beneficial for these trees.

Willow branches are not like any other tree branches, therefor it's fun to play with them. What I didn't know back then (how could I know as I was just a little kid) is that these branches are perfect for tying wine branches. It's organic and have been used for ages.

Standing Out

When your options are limited, you need to look for every opportunity. After photographing what nature has to offer at this time of the year, I thought let's look up to see what we can find up there.

And voila! Some trees don't have leaves yet, so branches are still clearly visible. That is how I was able to spot these unusual branches. In normal circumstances I would have never spotted these to be honest. Would have been busy with all kinds of things in my head but not now.

This was a good lesson, a wake up call to pay more attention to what goes on around me. I guess we can only appreciate some things after we lose them.

Next time I need to look for other subjects to photograph. These red flowers will be fully open I believe. Good opportunity to take some macro photographs.

I'm always keeping my eyes open for the police patrol as well. I'm expecting to find them standing behind me, asking me what the hell I'm doing. Once the lockdown is over, I'm going to spend 3 hours in my favorite part (which is locked now by the way), photographing everything. My lovely plane trees, roses which are going to flower in May, June I believe and everything I can find.
