THERE IS FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN

Most African countries have a lot of political and economic instability problems, this has given birth to large volumes of unemployed youths, which has in turn given rise to increased volumes of immorality (robbery, scams, etc). . . There is fire on the mountain

With a few Africans introduced to steemit, we immediately saw the potential to aid the government and economy of our different countries. Using Steemit to enhance self-employment and thus improving economic development

THE BLESSINGS OF UNEMPLOYMENT

The unemployment has dealt a serious toll on us, forcing us to fall back to our creative edges, many graduates, some having even masters degrees are reduced to menial jobs and some having to become artisans or untrained traders; now you find an army of tailors, photographers, makeup artists, hairstylist, musicians. Bead makers, shoe makers etc. Now all these have always existed don’t get me wrong, but they were considered things/activities for the less privileged, or the unschooled. Now with a whole lot more educated people partaking, the competition is crazy, the creativity is astounding, although the promotion/marketing is still quite poor.

Without adequate reach/publicity, most youths are just better skilled, better dressed, poor people (could be compared with acute underemployment). The pioneering Africans on steemit has seen the opportunity to mitigate this problem by bringing fellow Africans to the steemit platform, availing us an opportunity to showcase and promote their brands, skills, and values. Africa has always been known for its wealth in cultural heritage, so it’s not surprising how in less than a month we see new Africans doing fantastically well (unleashing the bottled in creativity).

I also see another hidden advantage for Africa via steemit. It is ‘One-Africa’, poverty and the strife it comes with has brought about the severing of valuable bonds across African countries. By networking to achieve greatness in this manner, the bond will be reestablished, and this time stronger.

GIANT STRIDES ... TINY AFRICANS

I want to take this paragraph to appreciate the following Africans, (this list is not exhaustive,as I only put those that I’ve come across. Kindly add others in the comments and I will add them here). They have seen the light and have taken a self-imposed mandate to share it (one even has a “crazy” goal of inviting 2million people and he’s doing great).

MY CROSS

I have also taken up the challenge, and in conjuction with the likes of @trillex @woleybabz @daps , have started mapping out a few ways to improve awareness for steemit as well as cryptocurrency and the blockchain technology, beginning in our immediate environment.

With the little connection I have, I plan to talk with some coordinators in getting the opportunity sensitize and introduce successive batches of National Youth Service Corp (NYSC)members. Considering that (in Nigeria), this is the final phase before students are released into the labor market (which has sadly turned into ‘the unemployment market’). I think empowering them at this stage with such information will be very potent in mitigating unemployment and abuses in the search for jobs

I also hope to get access to some organizers of self-empowerment forums and seminars, as these ones address those already introduced into the labor market but without any gainful employment.
In my opinion, these two sets of people constitute over 90% of the unemployed population in Africa.
I love @thecryptodrive ‘s idea of having a billboard, I think it’s an idea that should be emulated, it will be crowdfunded or sponsored.

I have in mind to encourage the ‘empowered to empower' mindset, that is, charge somebody to share with some other body. With this I believe Steemit will be greater, with increased users and quality content, and Africa will be better with reduced unemployment and obscurity.

I honestly covet a forum (probably a discord channel) where Africans meet, be guided, share growth ideas, and undertake joint projects (not a follow or upvote shebang).

a greater Steemit, a better Africa
