edit
You decide the length of your entry, but anything that runs too long will have points deducted as the goal is to write an interesting short story.
Did I ever tell you random people in the comment section of a fairly random post about the time I single handedly repelled a Khanate invasion?
No?
That is almost unbelievable, it was an amazing time, and an epic tale of heroism, betrayal, pride, love, and of course, war. Many people died, kingdoms fell, and at least one Venetian lost a considerable amount of money. I can't believe I haven't told this story.

Well what are you doing still reading this? If I ain't told the story by now, why should I?
"Maybe you should", answers a sexy brunette in a low cut trouser. The kind of trouser that all the basic courtesans wear in the past decade. Though this is only the thirteenth century, the trouser could rival any piece of clothing female human wear to a gathering to attract potential mates 800 years later. Erebus tosses a glance toward her direction, his eyes linger on the slit a mere second and the corner of his mouth curves up slightly.
"And what do I get in return?"
"A closer inspection of a female specimen and maybe a deeper understanding of human reproductive process".
She struts forward with the radiance of all her feminine charm, parting crowd of listeners. Whispers of gossip and whistles of admiration mix into a rumbling of voices. "To whom do I owe this privilege?", said Erebus, basking in full view the bodacious mammary bouncing with every steps taken. Thinly veiled hour-glass reveals curvatures that can only be sculpted by master artists. Bending down to his face, she smiles and blinks, long lashes fluttering as his stomach jolts when her face is inches away. "Vergara, Sophia Vergara".
"A Spaniard, and a mighty fine one at that". Were Erebus still a fledglings in his dealing with beautiful women, he would falter and concede right about now. But it is not this time, experience has taught him that this is too good to be true and there's always hell to pay for making a big mistake.
"Not this time", he mumbles and proceeds to take off his VR glasses. "Medieval VR porn with celebrity at PornWub.com" starts blinking. "Only $50 per month, free trial for 1 clip, sign up now". Putting his lotion and tissue back on the table, Erebus logs into Steemit, typing furiously. "Short story competition", it said on his 16k HD monitor screen.
A little late but I hope you like it!
“You remembered!” she squealed as she snatched the ice cream cake from my hands.
“Yeah!” I said to my roommate.
A lie.
“Mmmm...just enough for one, perfect!” she said. Then walked away.
Top already off and licking the frosting, that I had chosen with care,
like a malnourished savage.
Heart heavy and as cold as the cake, I turned to the empty kitchen to ponder my fate.
"Burn."
The fire rages fierce, flames surging from windows blown outward by the impressive heat. Smoke as dark and black as ink billowed from every crevice of the aged building, blotting out the sun and shrouding the ground in shadows.
"Burn."
If anyone had been unlucky enough to be inside, their last moments would have been a hell of heat and unbearable noise. Noise loud enough to deafen as the flames crack, winds blow, and items explode in the excessive heat.
"Burn."
Water jets towards the building creating the hiss and mists of steam, but failing to push the fire back. The building creaks, and tilts, its wooden frame incapable of withstanding such a holocaust.
"Burn."
Firefighters trying to control the flames are pelted with hot, nearly molten shards of glass as yet another series of windows give way to the flames. Some are injured, all are frightened, all but one.
"Burn."
He thinks to himself as he watches the fire, his fire, his passionate vengeance, consume what outsiders would call his childhood home.
"Burn."
It becomes less of a thought, and more of a state of ecstasy as he watches the beautiful colors of flame burn down the home that was his own hell, the only regret in his heart that the man who had hurt them all those years ago, was no longer inside.

Hey @erebus, is there a limit to how long this has to be. I enjoy reading random shit on steemit but if someone is going to post a saga, I'd like to be warned beforehand.
There is no hard limit besides the steemit restriction on comment length. But anything that goes too long will receive a type of penalty against winning as the goal here is of course to make a "short" story. Kind of a self-regulatory system.
Great name by the way.
I'm a little bored, so I'll just work off of your story earlier. Thank you for your compliment.
Short story of a funny Train Driver
Award for Bravery and life saving
A train driver named Tim was awarded for his bravery and thereby saving life of 100s of train passengers including ladies and kids by making the derailed train back on track with his exceptional driving skills. At the event of award ceremony Prime minister asked Tim to explain how the incident happened and how he managed to save 100s of life except one fellow who died unfortunately.
Tim said: "As an experienced and punctual driver I was sticking to the scheduled speed of 55-65kmph suddenly I noticed a tall man far away standing at the middle of the track which I immediately realized it was nothing but a suicidal attempt. I feel pity on that man and tried to help him by hitting him as soon as possible!!!. I increased the train speed form 60 to 120kmph for him and when it was only 100 m apart that irresponsible coward jumped out of the track and ran away to the nearby field. I felt so much angry and finally had to chase him down through the field. "
Fortunately made it back on track and saved 100s of life.
