A Steemit guide from a new users perspective for new users.

in #help7 years ago (edited)
It's been almost 2 weeks now since I signed up and created an account. In those two weeks I have learned a lot ... let me rephrase that, **I HAVE LEARNED A LOT!**

Which only makes sense, since there is a whole lot to be learned.

What have I learned about #steemit

So basically, as you've already learned by now, steemit is a social media platform build on the steem blockchain.
You post content, you get upvotes, you get Steem Dollars and / or SteemPower.

There are a couple of things you might want / need to know though.

There's a flavor for everyone!

  • #Steemit - You are most likely reading this post on this site
and is the official community frontend to the social platform
  • #Busy - is a facebook look-a-like front to steemit.com
  • #chainBB - a more forumlike approach
  • #eSteem - Mobile app for iPhone and Android
granted though, a lot of these are still under development and apart from steemit.com might have some issues.

Things you should know

  • The more SteemPower, the higher your rewards
  • You upvote , you get Curation Rewards (Read this), again in the form of Steem Dolars and / or SteemPower
  • The earlier you upvote and the bigger the promise of the post you upvoted (meaning will it end up getting a lot of upvotes / money) the higher your reward.
  • Don't upvote everything there's a limit to the rewards it's spreading Read about it here
  • you can see what pending potential payouts are coming your way here
    fill in your own username
  • make sure you do your reserarch in advance

There'll come a time when you're ready to buy, see a great price and then you first need to figure out how it works, price goes up in the meanwhile ... big tears.

Other useful links

Well, that's just a grabfull of things I've learned in the past 2 weeks, I'm sure there's more and quite positive there is even MORE to learn.

I will leave you with a nice piece of good advise to learn more about cryptocurrency in general:

A good place to start learning about blockchain is to start with understanding how Bitcoin works. - @exyle

This is a good compilation for all new steemians. You deserve and upvote.

I agree, this should be on the Steemit home page, if there was a general one, like on YouTube or something like that. VERY good references. I've only been here for 4 days, and I've been looking for a payout calculator like the one you provided. Thank you so much! upvoted and followed @eqko and @tj4real. Keep it up!

thanks, I wish I found more of these posts when I started out.
I think new users can use all the help they can get.

Eqko, lovely post. Very easy to read.

Been here a month and I am am learning something new every day! :)

In fact, you know more! :P

Thanks for sharing.

PS: It is "useful" not "usefull" - thought I'd let you know!

Thanks and you're welcome. Also I always tend to add an extra 'L' when there is none. thanks for the reminder. Fixed now ;)

Hehe! We all do. Thought it was a mistake.

I also observed "grabfull" - but wasn't sure if it was the extra L or FULL that should be removed.

All good as long as you are sharing such fantastic info! :)

Useful post bro!

Thanks. I just hope it helps out new users a bit. Just like other's posts helped me :)

I like this picture, large-headed man :))))

I like it as well. It's sure as hell properly depicts how my head feels right now after the past 2 weeks.
