Lunar Space Elevator. ft Stellardrone

What is a Lunar based Space Elevator? It is a transportation concept for moving a mechanical climbing vehicle up and down a ribbon-shaped tethered cable that is set between the surface of the Moon "at the bottom" and a docking port suspended tens of thousands of kilometres above in space at the top.

For the lunar elevator concept shown, the counterweight would be placed at the top of the 155,000 mile-long (250,000km) ribbon, where it would be held in place by Earth’s gravitational field.

A lunar elevator could significantly reduce the costs and improve the reliability of soft-landing equipment on the lunar surface.

    Test's in early space aviation failed .
    That is , they tried it from the surface of Earth .
    The tethered cable burned away due to electrical discharge between the upper atmosphere and the ground .

    It is nothing new , lets hope the Moon is less electrifying ;-)
