Sand Sculpture Museum 🗿

I wanna tell you about my sand sculpture experience. Antalya Sand Sculpture Museum has been home to very large sand sculptures since 2006. In this respect, it is one of the oldest sand museums in the world. It is also known as Sandland.

Sand sculptures, a form of temporary art, are very fascinating. Since the sculptures, which have been prepared with a long time and effort, are not permanent, it makes you feel the excitement of being able to see them once. The philosophy of sand sculpture art also carries the philosophy that everything will disappear one day and is not permanent.

Water and river sand are used as sand in the sculptures. Sculptors from all over the world meet in Antalya in April. A great cultural wealth is emerging. I said the statues are big, but I want to talk about their size so that you can better visualize them. While these sculptures reach meters in length, their weight can be hundreds of tons. We can say that the sand turns into gigantic sculptures.

These statues are demolished every year and new ones are built the following year. Located on the Lara beach of Antalya, this area is approximately 7 thousand square meters. I have chosen a few sculptures for you, but they contain much more.

According to Sandland's data, 10,000 tons of river sand was used for the sculptures. Sculptors complete their sculptures in 3 weeks. It is open to visitors for 6 months starting from May. I am amazed that sand sculptures can last so long. That's an amazing amount of time, considering the little statues we made on the beach were quickly destroyed.
