What is the name of your country's national sport? Describe the game.

I'm frome a country called Nigeria and our national sport is Football and it has been known since the 20th century. Soccer is a working that is competed between two teams each comprising of eleven players with the objective of scoring goals in the opponents’ goal. It is played on a rectangular field whose dimensions vary between 90 to 120 meters in length and 45 to 90 meters in width and has goals at both ends. Individuals kneel with their feet or head or use their whole body to control the ball and to score goals depending on the set regulations. Football is a sport that has captured the heart of Nigeria citizens and most of the youths, where the country has been producing quality players in the international footballing nations. This is a game that is associated with team work, skill and passion, thus making it one of the popular games in Nigeria.

To me i really love the game Football is also known as soccer in Nigeria and the game is well rooted in the Nigerian society and has acted as a social entity in the Nigerian society and people invest their time and money to their favorite teams and players and get inspired and united.

It is evident that soccer competition has some elements of competition that make games interesting and enjoyable for the players and the spectators since several matches usually display talent, skill, and techniques. Also, breakthroughs in continental championships like the Africa Cup of Nations or the FIFA World Cup championship create the spirit of patriotism and compatriotism of Nigerians, thereby speeding up desire in the Nigerian national sport. In a nutshell, the love I have for football as a Nigerian citizens is much.

Here is an amazing display in this singular event was during the Olympic Games held in Atlanta in 1996 where the Nigerian men’s football team emerged the champions. The team players such as Kanu Nwankwo and Jay-Jay Okocha the Nigerian legends among others played for the country with such energy, strength and unity to see off Argentina in the final match with a 3-2 score.

Seriously according to the history saying this was the first time in Nigeria’s history to have an Olympic football team to clinch an Olympic gold medal and well and truly placing the team as a force to reckon within Africa and across the globe. It was cheered all over the country and up to date is considered a memorable achievement to my country Nigeria when it comes to sports.
