This delightful meal of crispy fried potatoes served
With a creamy custard is a local farm dish, which is not only fulfilling, but also rich in power, so it is often ordered to eat either breakfast or light brunch in most areas.
Creamy Morning Custard and Golden Potato Chips.
This meal is sometimes known as a mere "Chips and Custard" in honor of the universality of the familiar potato (Solanum tuberosum), potato root all over the world, and a major agricultural crop. A combination of the saltiness and crunchiness of the chips and the sweetness and smoothness of the custard makes this a rather soothing and refreshing beginning of the day.
The Dining Experience (Presentation Steps)
It involves simple preparation and the process is divided into two important sections including the crispy chips and the creamy custard.
I. Golden Potato Chips.
Ingredients:
3-4 medium size Potatoes (solid, starchy type will do)
Even Groundnut Oil (to deep fry)
Salt (to taste)
Steps:
Peel and Cut: Wash the potatoes well. You may leave the skin on, it provides extra fiber and nutrients, or you may peel it off as i did. Cut the potatoes into similar sized strips (chips/fries). Their size is always the same so that they cook evenly.
Rinse and Salt: Rinse the cut chips in cold water in a bowl till all the water clears. This eliminates the surplus starch, which makes them crisper. Drain the chips and shake them with a pinch of salt.
Frying: Warm a lot of oil in any deep frying pan or pot in medium-high heat. When a small piece of potato that falls into the oil becomes sizzling it is ready.
II. Creamy Custard preparation.
Steps:
Make a Paste: Add the custard powder to the cold milk or water in a deep serving bowl, and stir completely without forming lumps. This will eliminate the lumping of the custard in the future.
Thicken: Add the boiling water (or hot milk) to the custard paste stirring it constantly and as fast as possible.
The mixture will instantly start to thicken into a smooth creamy mixture.
Sweeten: Add sugar to the level of how sweet you want it to be and blend.

Good Energy Source: Potatoes are mainly carbohydrates, and it is an amazing source of energy, which is crucial in getting the day going or restoring energy after an exercise. Custard also contributes to this energy content which supplies long lasting energy.
Excellent source of Potassium: Potatoes are also very rich in potassium, the vital mineral that normalizes blood pressure, promotes the health of the heart, and assists in the normal functioning of nerves and muscles.
Dietary Fiber: Since the potatoes are eaten with the skin (and even without the skin), they will include dietary fiber that will keep the digestive system healthy, will assist in keeping a healthy bowel movement and will assist in increasing the feeling of being full.
Vitamins and Antioxidants: Potatoes contain Vitamin C, an essential component of the immune system and antioxidant, and Vitamin B 6, a crucial element of metabolism and the brain.
Satiety and Comfort: The starch (potatoes), fat (frying oil) and liquid (custard) combination makes it a very satisfying and comforting meal which induces a sense of well being that can have a positive influence on mood and productivity.
