Going Loco in Ilocos! DarwinTheExplorer's First Adventure Part 2

in #travel6 years ago

Hey Steemians! I'm back! Thank you guys for appreciating all my travel blogs. I loved reading all your comments and suggestions.

Before we continue, let me show you this picturesque view of the wind farm in Bangui. Thanks to my friend Shanie for this photo.

I love this view! Ilocos has a lot to offer.

We are now set on our next adventure. First up is Patapat Viaduct. Located at the municipality of Pagudpud in ilocos Norte, this bridge lies on the northermost tip of Luzon. It is elevated 31 meters over sea level stretching 1.3 kilometers connecting from Ilocos Region to Cagayan Valley and it is the 4th longest bridge in the Philippines. Because of its proximity to Taiwan, some radio in the area can pick up signals from this neighboring country.

I think you will all agree that we had the best spot. Look, how amazing this bridge is!

We're still halfway, Our next destination is also a famous landmark in Ilocos Norte, the Malacañang of the North. This is a museum located in Paoay, Ilocos Norte and was the residence of the family of Ferdinand Marcos when he was still the President of the Philippines. A little history, President Ferdinand Marcos ruled the country for over 20 years. The longest so far for a president. Anyways, going back to this historical house, this was built in 1977 for Marcos' 60th birthday. It is a two-story mansion overlooking the Paoay lake much similar to the Malacañang Palace which has a view of the Pasig River. It has seven rooms and each room has a different theme of historical events from the Marcos regime.

This is the garden of the house facing Paoay lake.

The view of the beautiful Paoay lake can be seen in this photo. Lovely!

And for the last adventure of this blog, I will take you to one of my favorite tourist destinations in Ilocos Norte, the St. Augustine Church or better known as the Paoay Church. The structure was completed in 1710, and famous for its unique architecture. In 1973, it was declared as a National Cultural Treasure by the Philippine government and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.
