RE: It's A Shore! No, It's A Promenade!

in #story6 years ago (edited)

I lost to my husband on that game haha

I don't really agree that such folding chair is common in the EU
it's the first time I've seen this one
it's for free

most of the chairs in the EU are more of benches
or the ones that are in front of restos or hotel
which won't allow you to sit there unless you're drinking or buying
surely, you won't get this in Venice at all

this one's for free that's what surprising about it
and I find it thoughtful actually it's not really common in the EU

we have beaches in Holland and you may sit on some of the chairs in the smoking area but surely a waiter would approach you and ask your order
if it's not very busy, you may stay
but if it is, they'd courteously ask you to vacate the seat

and if you may stay, it's usually wet or windy - no fun
if it's sunny, most of the seats are taken

nothing like these for free anymore
even in other EU countries I've visited that has shores and promenades
only benches like those in Spain or the wooden ones in the parks which is mostly full of bird poops

I remeber venice, you will spend a fortune just for a cuppa and of course the Marcus place is famous of its waiters :) You are right in biger touristic places nothing is for free, but living in a smaller cities may be it is a privilege because people are happy to offer you a sit on beach and even to take for a ride.I am glad that there are some places where you really enjoy the nature, people and beauty of town, it leaves nice memories and people will definetely come back :)
