Daily dose of inspiration: Being in the present

in #mindfulness8 years ago

Don't take people, things or moments for granted. Nothing is set in stone. It doesn't matter are those things we love having in our life or the ones we don't. Everything is changing. The only thing that is constant is change.

In six days God had created the sky, the earth, the sea and everything in them. The last day was blessed and devoted to rest. This is a mere symbolism of work and rest in today's moment. Only this moment is dedicated. Only today is unrepeatable. Never was the same and never will be. Just like you, and everything that will be a part of your day today.

If you have already "worked" this whole week and didn't pay attention to the current moment, burdened by thoughts, worries, dreams, then today is the day which you could spend in the present. Like children, present and thankful. If you won't be like them, you will never enter the kingdom of God! The kingdom of God is in the current moment. In there live children who will not say: "What an ordinary day." Children will make the most of today, intuitively knowing that every moment is special, magical and unrepeatable. Why?

Because only in this moment there is life, in which God lives and acts through his miracles. But there is no adults. Be like children today. Enjoy the day with your family. Someone is dreaming about this day and is praying for it. Rejoice in the eyes of a child. When you look at them today, know that someone can only remember. Look forward to the lunch on the table. Someone doesn't have it. Rejoice the opportunity to be happy.

Remember that the things you live through today were once part of your dreams. Remember that the life is sometimes filled with setbacks, uncompleted dreams and difficulties. But if you compare them to the obstacles you've jumped over, to the dreams you've fulfilled and problems that have never happened, isn't this day truly fantastic? :)

Note: Take the meaning of entities like God and kingdom in any way that suits you the best.

Your article reminds me of Eckhart Tolle teachings about living in the now.
His books with his approach to Zen reshaped my life.
Btw, you may enjoy this:

Yes, Tolle is one of the teachers I found interesting. Good eye.
And the video seems magnificent, I watched first 2 minutes.
It looks like a video I should watch alone.
I'll have to continue when I get home.
Thank you for your reply :)
