#Colorchallenge of the Day; ThursdayGreen

What up Peeps!

I think committing to a challenge is a great way for a novice Steemian like me to build consistency, meet other users and start getting my content on the site. The day is Thursday and its color is GREEN! So here's my first entry in @kalemandra's daily #Colorchallenge.

I took this photo in Niagara Falls, Ontario while spending the day with my wife. What you're seeing is a portion of what's known as the "Queenston-Chippawa Power Canal ". These kinds of canals are used for generating power instead of transporting watercraft. A majority of the worlds power canals have been repurposed or removed as access to standard electrical power became more readily available and the need for land grew because communities were rapidly expanding.

This particular canal runs approximately 22 kilometers from where the Welland River meets the Niagara River and directs its water to the "Sir Adam Beck Hydraulic Power Stations (I & II)". At the time of it's construction S.A.B.H.S 1 Was the largest station of it's kind ON THE PLANET and on 11/16/1990 it was declared a National Historic Site Of Canada by the Federal Minister of the Environment.
