A Quiet Christmas

Not meant to be the loudest of events
But not the most quiet either
Always enjoy my holidays
Even in the cold of Winter

This year felt a bit off though
As tragedy rubbed its shine
The year's had its toll
Perhaps too much for wine

Also the family's not here
Everyone's too busy
They're all exhausted to be fair
As 2019 hasn't been easy

So I'll just take solace in the season
Whether or not I have a reason
Do my best to keep my light burning
And stay grateful for living
