Vegetables grown on Mars will be eaten

in #science7 years ago

Researchers at the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands have used NASA's study of Martian soil composition. In this way they checked to see if people could eat plants grown on this planet.

It turns out that the tested fetuses are completely safe and fit for human consumption.

The research, as reported by futurism.com, has been running since 2013. The team of scientists cultivated radishes, peas, rye and tomatoes. The researchers found that they are completely safe and contain no dangerous levels of heavy metals, of which Mars is known.

A total of 10 plants were grown in the soil. The remaining 6 will also be tested to see if they are able to absorb dangerous amounts of heavy metals in the soil of Mars. This includes, among others. Cadmium, copper or lead. These tests will ultimately prove whether the settlers will be able to be self-sufficient.

Thank you. Good information

Waste of money and resources. Spending money on Mars is like making a huge bonfire fueled by currency. Goes into thin air when it could be used to empower people to grow Earth plants. Sorry but our sight is to live on other planets, not a barren cold wasteland like Mars. Leave Mars alone. Make a law to keep your space junk away.

Very cool article, I hadn't even considered that vegetables could absorb deadly metals. In hindsight it seems super obvious haha, but glad it seems like we can do this.

Thanks for Your comment :)
