Jokes could come with a price
A snowy Saturday morning, lazy indoor day, hubby and I took it very slowly. He used to jump right into shower from bed every morning, but this morning, he's been lazy.
I heard him finishing up shower, not sure why, I suddenly decided to scare him. I peeked into the bathroom and saw him getting ready and was putting the tower back to rack, I opened the door and "wolf" him. Guess what happened, he jumped high and was really reacting very exaggeratedly.
Well, I wasn't expect that to happen. I didn't really mean to give him a heart attack like shock. He told me afterward that I was taking 5 years out from his life. It was a small joke, but really made me think.
Sometime, we didn't mean to do any harm, didn't mean to hurt people, drag someone down, etc, we may not have had bad intention, but sometime, things could develop completely out of control, in some worst scenarios, you may lost trust, friendship, etc and be regret forever.
I will learn this lesson myself, I couldn't imagine if my husband really had an heart attack if he didn't have a strong heart, it will definitely be to my greatest regret if a small joke turned out to be disaster. Joke may not just be a joke. Before pulling a prank next time, you may have to think about potential consequences. Sometimes, it may not be something that you can afford.
I am not advocating for being serious all the time, small jokes can help to improve relationship, friendship, etc, but sometimes it also comes with a price. You just have to find the right balance.
