In the recently finished school session, we discussed the issue of "poverty," and my teacher defined it as "a state of being extremely poor." I agree with that definition.

Poverty can also be defined as the inability to meet one's fundamental necessities, which include food, clothing, and shelter. And these are really basic and important human requirements that we cannot live without. Poverty is defined as the inability to meet these necessities.

1. Unemployment: In my country, Nigeria, unemployment is a key source of poverty. Many people do not have jobs, and those who do do not earn enough money to meet their basic necessities.

2. Laziness: Laziness is frequently cited as a primary contributor to poverty. Some people may not wish to work in dirty vocations like carpentry or bricklaying. Everyone desires a white-collar career.

3. Conflict: This is actually one of the main causes of poverty, because any area where conflict occurs is usually a loss to people living nearby, as well as people who have properties in that area. A clear example is the xenophobic attack issues, when some hoodlums took advantage of the situation to break into Shoprite's, stealing goods worth millions and thousands of naira, which if it was an individual business and also the sole income of the individual, he will actually go into depression.

4. Inadequate Education: Poverty is also caused by a lack of education, or the inability to attend school.

5. Disaster: This tragedy causes property damage. A farmland can be ruined by flood, washing away the farmer's goods and everything he has grown, leaving him in a horrible state of poverty and depression after working for days and months.

3. Robbery with a firearm: Poverty can drive people to commit crimes they would not otherwise commit, such as armed robbery.
4. Drug trafficking: Many people who are unable to bear unimaginable hardships turn to drug trafficking to make ends meet.

My contribution is mostly kindness and charity. If I notice anyone that is not well-fed, I'll make sure that I'll share my lunch money with him/her.
