in Knack4buzzlast month

Greetings to everyone in this community, hope all is doing well and fine, its been quite a while and my first time of actually writing in this community,I come here today to partake in this contest in this amazing community @knack4buzz organized by @hive-135004 Titled: theme diary game my festival celebration. Dear diary, I always ask my myself and my parents about the village where I am from and my parents did justice by telling me but never took me to the place. Last week ago, I was opportune to witness a traditional marriage of my cousin and I was there and saw how it all went.

I come from Abia state in arochukwu local government area and I am a proud son of the igbo tribe. it was on a Saturday and my family members and relatives have all traveled far and near to attended this festival and ceremony celebration of my cousin marriage. I attended my first igbo traditional wedding ceremony in my village, igbo people like party, as in! If you've been to any igbo traditional wedding you can relate to what I am saying. It is usually nothing less than flamboyant and lively.

I attended one traditional wedding for the first time in my life and believe me it was amazing and a beautiful ceremony worth coming for. At every wedding i have heard about the bride was always the star of the day and wasn't allowed to do any strenuous work so as not to ruin her makeup and accessories, so I wasn't surprised when my cousin miracle was looking so gorgeous and beautifully dressed shining like a diamond on her traditional wedding day. This wedding is an experience I never want to forget, stay tuned as I unfold how my day went.

In a igbo traditional wedding the father is the first to arrive, second to the mother and then the bride which dances like a queen and happily with her bride maids accompanied by her. The first part of the whole ceremony was where the groom goes in with his family to meet with the bride's father and family to pay the bride price. I wasn't there to witness the payment but I saw them when they entered the room for the payment. In an igbo traditional wedding there is usually an MC which makes the occasion to be more even fun , for some unknown reason i focused more on the MC'S comment maybe because I was among the crowd and making sure everyone was having a nice time, trust me they made the wedding interesting.

Now let's see what happened when the bride danced in. Miracle, the beautiful bride arrived majestically with her friends dancing behind her, while she was dancing money was been sprayed on her. Then she later went first to the parents, knelt down before them and they prayed for her. Then it was time for her to show us her husband in the crowd, palm wine was poured on a glass cup and was given to her to identify her husband which was in the midst of many people. She danced majestically around the canopy but finally got to her husband and a great shout was heard, it was fun I must confess.

After that the parents of the bride prayed for both of them and they sat down to take some pictures, after that the bride went in again and changed into another traditional dress and I took some pictures of them. I hardly had time to sit as I was the one ensuring the food were being served and everyone was given food and was alright. When the ceremony was finally over I took some pictures and I quickly changed into something more comfortable and arranged the chairs and packed the dishes to be washed. I was really tired, but the traditional wedding was very interesting and fun. We all had a blessed and a lovely day and I am happy for the newly wedded couple.

Culture is indeed a beautiful thing.....
