Life makes its way is what we have heard on many occasions, even that was the motto of a very famous dinosaur movie. The truth is that life happens, we arrive to this astral plane and to this here and now, some in a beautiful and expected way, others in a sudden and unexpected way, even some are born against all odds. Regardless of how we have arrived in this world, it is important to remember that we are and we are unique, wonderful beings and that our existence is and will be unrepeatable.

Regardless of the circumstances in which we have arrived in this world, each of us has the potential and the ability to be what we want to be, especially to be happy. I am one of those people who trust in the second chances that life gives you. I faithfully believe that if we have already been given the opportunity to have this existence we can do great things. I like to see and listen to people who with very little or even nothing have managed to get out of the darkness where they were born. People who in misery and absolute abandonment one day bet on being something more than what destiny indicated to them.

Sometimes I think of stories like that of my father, who being the last of 13 siblings decided to leave the small village where he was born in a humble mud house and start working from the age of 9 to help in the home where only my grandmother, a country woman who without any education worked the fields with her own hands to feed her children, looked after him and his siblings. My father was a man who decided at that young age that he was not going to live as just another worker on a large landowner's farm, always depending on a small salary that did not pay for the effort and hard work. My father left the fields at the age of 12 and made a life for himself, my grandmother and helped his siblings.

I think of my mother who her biological mother gave away when she was a child because she did not love her, she was able to grow up with a feeling of rejection towards that woman who one day decided to leave her as an object in another house and yet she took the path of good. She got a good home although where there were also many siblings, where there were many shortages but there was a lot of love. She studied what was known here as a professional baccalaureate and graduated as a nurse at the age of 17, dedicating 30 years of her life to the care of the sick and needy. When she was older she got her degree and even a postgraduate degree and she told my siblings and me never let anything stop you, as long as there is life there will be hope.

These are stories that you might think are simple and even without much complication, but there are others where people, even in the nothingness and absolute loneliness since childhood, manage to build a wonderful life. The explanation for all this is that they all decided to honor their path. To honor the path means to take every opportunity as if it were the last, to get up every time you have fallen, to overcome difficulties and to understand that you are bigger than any problem. Hunger, cold, loneliness and sadness are some negative feelings we have all experienced, but staying in the darkness they generate is not an option.

Honor your path, learn from the bad and transform it. Create new spaces, open the windows of your life if the doors have been closed. Have the full security and certainty that you are the only one responsible for making your path a wonderful walk. Maybe you will find stones in your path that will make you stumble, but if that happens, shake off the dirt, get up firmly and move forward.
