HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Today is All Hallows Eve or Halloween. A fun day and evening for children in numerous countries. Dressing up and going door to door as they trick or treat. One of the things I love about Halloween is seeing the kids excited about their costumes and candy they will eat when they get home. I hope everyone stays safe and enjoys the festivities!

be prepared to scream
In the sky they zoom
on this scary night
out of thin air
rising from the loam
your doorstep they found
candy you must pay!

Halloween History, The True Origin Of Halloween - Full HD Documentary
Many people will celebrate Halloween, yet few know the origins of the holiday. In the United States the holiday has become commercialized and the nature of the haunted holiday forgotten. I hope you enjoy the documentary.
Groovie Goolies Monster Mash Music Video
This is my favorite Halloween song. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Here in our country, being predominantly Catholic, kids were encouraged to wear costumes depicting saints as Hallow's Eve is actually All Saints Day Eve.

Yes, the Catholics Church moved All Saints Day in an attempt to end the Celtic pagan holiday, celebrating the harvest and darkness of the winter monthes. A poor harvest would mean death for some.

It's funny how we here in the Philippines tend to forget that you guys have 4 seasons and how a bad harvest could mean disastrous consequences for many, even death. Although we are a poor country I never heard of anyone dying of starvation in the provinces and far flung rural areas. Bananas and coconuts grow in abundance which people can eat if the harvest is not good. And that's the whole year round. We really should count our blessings although sometimes I think of that adage "Necessity is the mother of invention" and wonder if we would have been better off if we had 4 seasons too. Complacency is the death of invention and ambition if you ask me.
Winter can hazard to one's health. I slipped on black ice (ice you can't see) and broke my ankles. The first time my right ankle, then about 7 years later my left.
I can see complacency being the leading cause of death to invention and ambition.
Wooh that must have hurt. Although I have been fortunate enough to just have suffered sprains with my ankles, I wasn't too lucky with my knees. Both my knees have torn ligaments which limits my lateral movements. Any sudden swerves to the sides can sometimes lock my knees and knock me off my feet with matching searing pain as well. I have learned since to unlock them manually so it doesn't bother me so much. The doctor wanted to put metal braces on my knees but due to the astronomical cost that it would entail, I decided to just let them be and heal naturally. So now I am limited to sports activities that do not have lateral moves such as jogging, swimming, biking and bowling. No tennis, badminton, basketball and football.
Are your ankles back to normal use and strength? Meaning are they still bothering you at times?
Knee issues are fun. I hope your kneee heals quickly. I have always have issues with my joints, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis when I was a teenager. My left knee has no cartilage, it's bone on bone. I get injections. Eventually I will need a replacement.
My ankles were surgically repaired. I tell people that I have ankle of steel! My left ankle acts up every now and again.

My knees are not going to be any better anymore. I had the accidents (tearing my knee ligaments) when I was in my mid 20's. First my left knee then my right a year later. I just learned to live with it and understand the kind of movements that cause knee locks and what to do when it happens.
But I disagree that knee issues are fun. Same with ankles. Sometimes when I try to avoid a certain movement to prevent a knee lock I twist an ankle and they're never fun : (
Sorry, I was being sarcastic about knee issues being fun.
