Spiritual Poverty 2

Continuation of spiritual poverty.

All religions of the world without exemption teach charity towards others indiscriminate of whom or what they are. It is beholden unto us not only to have the skill to acquire wealth but also to have in us a generous spirit coupled with an equally kind heart with which to share our wealth with others less fortunate. As fellow beings, we are each other's caretaker.

It is our obligation and moral duty to reduce the pain and miseries of our fellow creatures if and when possible. This obligation is more so on those who have been blessed with the means and wherewithal to do so. We turn our backs on God (whatever we conceive God to be) and belittle whatever blessings sent our way when we blind our eyes to the needs of others. And whether or not it is clear to us, we inadvertently retard our spiritual growth and all the prayers in the world and all donations to religious organizations or “men of God" will sow no seeds of grace in the hereafter.

A truly wealthy man is a giver of everything. Kindness, laughter, money, time but most important of all, love. All other things put together pale into insignificance when compared with the power of love. If there is truly love, there is nothing within our power that we cannot do for others.

This is the gospel truth. A truth that all people intrinsically know but bluntly refuse to act on. To have and to hold on to anything, one has to first of all learn the art of giving some of it away. That is one paradox on which life works. A paradox that contains the truth behind real and everlasting wealth.

How many of us are truly wealthy?

It is said “give and you shall receive”

Still we hold on tight to those things which in the dusk of our days cannot help us in where we will be going after here. The only wealth we carry with us are our listed acts of kindness and love. The only wealth we leave behind are the people in whose thoughts and hearts we remain long after we have passed on for those acts of kindness and love we had shown to them during our lifetime. Anything else is ephemeral and like puffs of smoke eventually dissipates into the air.

When we come to the discovery that each and every person undergoes pain of varying degrees perhaps we'll be better equipped to relate with them at their level. Perhaps we'll be able to judge less and love more.

Great work

What people fail to understand is that, man is the God on earth. And if we failed to use those gift from him to bless lives, of what use is then the riches.
