Before exploring what the 7 hermetic principles are, let us first identify:

What is hermeticism?

Hermeticism is a religious, philosophical and esoteric tradition with roots in magick. The tradition of hermeticism is still being practised today on an individual basis and in "secret" societies.

What does the word hermetic mean?

1. made airtight by fusion or sealing.
2. not affected by outward influence or power; isolated.
3. (sometimes initial capital letter) of, relating to, or characteristic of occult science, especially alchemy.
4. (initial capital letter) of or relating to Hermes Trismegistus or the writings ascribed to him.

Who is Hermes Trismegistus? ("according to google"):

Hermes Trismegistus (Ancient Greek: Ἑρμῆς ὁ Τρισμέγιστος, "thrice-greatest Hermes"; Latin: Mercurius ter Maximus) is the purported author of the Hermetic Corpus, a series of sacred texts that are the basis of Hermeticism.

The 7 hermetic principles:

I. The principle of mentalism.
II. The principle of correspondence.
III. The principle of vibration.
IV. The principle of vibration..
V. The principle of rhytme
VI. The principle of cause and effect.
VII. The principle of gender.

The following snippets are from the book, The Kybalion and describes the 7 principles in more details.

1. THE ALL IS MIND. ; The Universe is Mental
2. As above, so below; as below, so above
3. Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates
4. Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled
5. Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum-swing manifest in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates.
6. Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause; everything happens according to Law; Chance is but a name for Law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law
7. Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles; Gender manifest on all planes

Knowing the principles opens up for the possibility to understand how the principles manifest in everything. I will not use the hermetic arts, besides the 7 hermetic principles in the frame work to fight illusion based mindcontrol, but I thought the extra information could spike some curiosity on the subject.
