Little rant about a pasta at Il Tavolino in Mexico City.

Last weekend it took us by surprise not to have a plan for the weekend. We usually have some shit to do, like visit some friend, our parents or even go to the super market. We only knew that we wanted to walk the dog and like any other living creature, we needed to eat.
So we went out and straight to the park, one of the favorites of Penny Lane (our dog). Over there we discussed where to eat and we wanted to try something new but didn’t have a clue, it was a long and exhausting week so our heads didn’t wanted to think.
Then we said: ALV (you will only understand that if you’re Mexican). And we started walking outside the park into the hood with no clear direction. After a few minutes of walking we stumble upon a new place in a street full of restaurants that we already knew.
It was a pasta place, small but it looked nice. We liked it, but not that much so we kept walking. A couple of minutes later the hunger called, and we answer: we don’t want to think we're going back to that little place.
They were very nice and friendly and the menu was good. The waiter and the menu almost yelled at us that the pasta was fresh and made on site and we couldn’t ignore that.
So we asked for pasta and some thing that they called Stracciatella (some kind of burrata) we heard that name before, but in ice cream. But in less Italian words it was fresh cheese with some cherry tomatoes and cream. It was nice and fresh and we liked it.
Then for the main course we ordered pasta. My wife asked for Fettuccine al Salmone. At first it look so good but it wasn’t great. Maybe we’re just really spoiled or we had really high expectations. But at the end it was just MEH!
Then take a look at the monster lasagna I ordered. It looks really good, was really big and it weighed like a baby. But then again the flavor wasn’t there. Meh again…
I don’t know if we’re spoiled at the point of just being ruined or the comments of the restaurant were biased. Or we just need to plan our meals and study more the new places we visit.
Well I hope you like this little rant. The lesson you need to learn is that even if food looks good, and staff is very nice, sometimes the flavor won’t be there.
See you soon!
P.D. Say hi to Penny hidding in this picture.

As we say in Mexico: "más vale malo conocido que bueno por conocer" jajaja.
Just kidding. I think that is good to go to new places and sometimes que van be surprised. Were we live there are not many good choices to eat and most of the time that we are out and want to try something new it's hard to make a good choice.
