Microscope Photography
I have been so wanting to work on some sort of photography project recently. Not just to have something to contribute to Steem, but more so to inspire me, motivate me and maintain a modicum of sanity. So this morning while sitting pondering the meaning of life and death, I somewhat desperately searched for something to photograph. I needed something to ignite a spark of creativity before I totally lost my mind in the throes of everything the universe was asking me to deal with. It's dark and rainy and ever so dreary outside my windows. It's cold and damp and not really conducive to a cheery jaunt around the farm in search of inspiration. So instead of looking to the external world, I turned my focus to the tiny little world just beyond out natural sight.
I run a lot of my own testing on the birds that come into the sanctuary, so I have a very high quality microscope. I also bought the adapter that can convert my Canon 60D into a camera to mount directly onto the scope. It is useful for taking pictures of parasite eggs that I may need help identifying (insert ewww here). However on this atypical morning I began to wonder what abstract images could be created with my Canon and Scope. I thoughtfully strolled around the house picking up feathers and flowers shed from various plants in the sunroom. One by one I placed my found items on a glass slide and searched my microscope lens for interesting compositions and colors. This is what I found...
