Two things are needed: Good cheer and courage

In Joshua 1: 6, the Word says:

Fight and be brave; because you will distribute to this city by inheritance the land of which I swore to his parents that I would give it to him.

Life is full of innumerable commitments, there are so many that we always have to take responsibility for what is our competence. If you are the head of the family, you have a responsibility, which is required of you, whether at work, in the church, in your business or in your position in public administration, etc.

In all responsibility effort and courage is required to obtain the desired success. The advantage of the Christian life is that in our commitments we have the wonderful power and love of our God.
God encourages us to face the commitments with the most faithful responsibility and thus obtain the best results.

Although we live in a very demanding society, with several constant challenges and circumstances that generate pessimism and much negativity, we Christians are called to face the world with the greatest value and the greatest value of our faith in God.

The Lord had assigned an enormous responsibility to his servant Joshua, which consisted of distributing the promised land to the children of Israel. You can imagine the tremendous responsibility that Joshua had, not only to divide the land, but first he had to fight against the enemies of Israel and then divide the spoils among the twelve tribes of God's people. It is logical to understand that all this generated concern in Joshua, however, the Word of God encouraged him greatly. The Lord himself had to say: "Strive and be brave."

The word strive, the Lord Jesus in John 16:33, used it saying: Have courage! In Greek, the verb "animate" is translated as "having good spirits."
This was really what God wanted to express to Joshua when he assigned the task of distributing the promised land to the children of Israel.

If we face a situation with pessimism and negative thoughts, we can never reach the goal that God proposes to us. Joshua knew that he needed a word of encouragement to encourage him to act with faith and courage to achieve the goal.

God will never leave us alone in trials. He will always be on our side encouraging us to move forward and gain victory. Again and again, God had to speak with Joshua to motivate him and move forward to accomplish the assigned task.

When the Lord instructed Joshua, he repeatedly told him to try hard and be brave.
Without that courage that God advised Joshua to continue, he would have surrendered when the enemy fought against him. And the children of Israel would never have reached the Promised Land they inherited.

The above is true for us on our daily walk. Joy and courage give us strength to continue towards the goal that the Lord has set for us in life. Remember then that two things are needed: good cheer and courage.
