Lost Collection- Borrowed Inspiration

Here is another piece from my lost collection of artwork. All that remains of it is this image file.

In making this piece, I complained to a friend that I felt a lack of direction, so he helped me out by examining the piece in between each stroke of color, and subsequently suggesting the next medium. I started out by laying down some grey marker ink and spreading that around a bit.

I didn't like the grey. It felt uninspired, and like something that I didn't want to continue working on. After frowning down at the piece and glancing at my box of pastels for a few minutes, Nick reached over to the box, selected a dark blue pastel, and placed it on the page. I looked up. He smiled, picked up the pastel, and set it down over another area of the page. I grabbed it and started making some moves with it. When I felt finished with the dark blue, I set it back in the box and returned to frowning down at the piece.

So Nick reached out again, and selected the light blue pastel. He was just as curious to see what my mind would do with it. So I repeated some of the same moves I had made with the dark blue and set it back into it's nest. Nick reached for the yellow and placed it on the page. I frowned at it, thinking something was not right there. He picked it up and moved it. It clicked! This is where the yellow needed to be! So I took up the pastel and scraped it across the paper.

The last pastel that Nick selected for me was orange. He set it down, I frowned, he moved it, I contemplated, and he moved it again. And it hit me. This pastel should be smeared around into thick curvy lines. And so I did.

To finish the piece, I took up the blue and yellow, and drew over the orange in order to set the orange back from the foreground.
