This contest captured my interest so much because as a chef definitely there must be an incident or accident that happens in the kitchen. I've cut my finger several times, hit my leg, hot oil splashes on me while trying, break plate or tea cup, hit food burns my tongue while tasting food etc. They are many accident that happens in the kitchen but then I will like to talk about a particular one that happens recently.

I also experienced gas top cooker explosion while cooking some years ago but I was save nothing bad happened to me or my pot of soup, we didn't know the cause of it even till now.

Tell us about that accident or incident that happened in the kitchen.

I'm going to to tell two incidents that happens recently in my kitchen, it wasn't funny at all but let me share my experience with you.

First; I wanted to dry smoked fish for home consumption, I'm not very good at it I was still learning how to dry smoked fish that time. I've been watching hubby do so for some time now so I decided to try it myself as he wasn't arround, I cleaned to fish placed it on fire. I used firewood to dry the fish so I added more firewood then cover the the fish so the fire heat will touch the fish to make it dry fast. As I finish everything outside, I went inside to check on my baby suddenly, I perceive a burning sensation I immediately called my sister to helped me checked behold the fire urns my fish on fire. It was so heart broken.

All get burnt, just few remains

Second; I was about making stew for the family so I decided to use fresh pepper and ginger so I blended the two in a blender. As I was blending I opened the blender to add water then I switched on the blender without covering I was tempted to add the remaining ginger then suddenly it splashes out and the splash moved straight to my two eyes. Chai!! I shouted at the top of my voice for help,my two eyes was closed standing there I really needed help.

Were you sunny @ at that time? Were you able to solve it alone or did someone help you?

Yes someone helped me, my sister was arround so she helped me quench the fire with water, but guess what? That wasn't the good option all the water poured on the fish this making the ones that wasn't affected by the fire to get wet due to the water that she used to quench the fire. We had no option than separating the good ones from the bad and then try to dry them with low heat to make it very dry for consumption.

How I handled the pepper incident; my hubby ran to my rescue, he immediately switched off the blender and the used water to clean my eyes himself because my hands were also contaminated with pepper since I was still grinding, he also assisted me to sit, drink water and make me calm for the burning sensation to calm.

What did you do after what happened

You know when they say experience is the best teacher, yes I learn to be more careful when doing things that need my attention and carefulness. From then onward I know how to dry smoked dry fish perfectly well without getting burnt, I know the amount of firewood to use at each stages considering the amount of fish too.

For the pepper experience, I never play when grinding pepper.

Does this anecdote leave you a bad memory? Or do you laugh a lot when you remember it? Tell us.

I do laugh at my careless sha each time I remember the accident but then it is a memory I will never forget. It leaves unforgettable lessons in me.

Hello, my friend, you have had several incidents, thank God, no accidents. It is that the kitchen is conducive to it. You were lucky to tell about the fish, imagine everything burning around you, blessed God it was not like that.

The pepper in your eyes, well that must have bothered you a lot but at least with plenty of water it calmed down and if these experiences help us to be more careful, they are just anecdotes to remember.

Gas cooker explosion 😲😲, I have never heard of and that was strange, I guess to you. Your kitchen accidents are not good at all. I'm always super careful whenever I'm in the kitchen. I guess that is the reason why I have never gotten into any bad kitchen accidents. Thank you for the invite, and I wish you good luck in the contest.

It sounds like you faced a challenging situation and had to make a decision in the heat of the moment. While it's great that your sister was there to help, sometimes the choices we make under pressure don't always have the desired outcome.

Exactly oo even though we made the choice of using water to quench the fire, it wasn't the best option we face the penalty.
Thank you so much for your contribution
