Dear Steemians
Today we would like to share with you some Video Poetry. We filmed this project in London, UK and in Butare, Rwanda. It is basically a Rwandan, Italian, British, German co-production.
✨

The performer in this piece of Video Art is called Ishimwa Muhimanyi. He is a Ballet and Contemporary Dancer who studied Performance Design and Practice at Central Saint Martins in London. Here you can read an interview of his:
https://www.arts.ac.uk/colleges/central-saint-martins/people/ishimwa-muhimanyi
✨

He is a dear friend and constant inspiration. His work takes many shapes: lyrical, dance, fashion, song. His work is his journey as he asks: how can I live freely in this black body scared or perhaps gifted with memories of loss, abuse and neglect?
✨

✨

His studies of Classical Ballet first drew my attention to his work. He has humor and mystery to him. That's why I have such great admiration for him. He doesn't hold back. Is provocative, attentive, and always an adventure to be around.
✨

The music of this performance was composed by a fellow Steemian - Mattis Schaeffer:
@madthebad
✨

We have been cooperating on numerous projects over the years. I have known him since we were kids and am repeatedly in awe of his creative potential. He is the co-founder of Refining Arts, a creative agency based in Cologne, Germany.
✨

✨

The DOP of this piece of Video Poetry is Alessandro Leonardi. You all know him very well from this platform. If you want to read about more of his films, you can take a look at his homepage:

✨

We are looking forward to hearing your thoughts about this short film, it's aesthetic, look and feel.
✨
Have a great start in this week!
✨
Yours,
Elena & Ale
Liebe Grüße aus der Hauptstadt!
xx
