Original Poetry (title still undecided)

Why did you look back?
We were running
At such speeds
And the sky
Was brimstone rain
What did you look at?
The life we had
Was going, going, gone
But we had each other
And there’s nothing wrong
With starting over
With just that
Were you afraid?
Did you lose your faith
In me?
In God?
In all of it?
Did you miss the time
Before the madness
Reached a fever pitch
And bubbled over
All around you?
Did grim thoughts of
The future make you
Choose to
Drift away slowly
On a saline wind?

Thanks for reading. I thought about calling it 'Pillar of Salt' but the name hasn't quite grown on me...
